# Teams & Referrals

> How VISION teams and referrals work: member and invited-user boosts, leader and inviter Additional Points, and the rules for joining, creating and registering codes.

**Teams and referrals reward participation with others during VISION.** Joining a team or using a referral code can increase your own Base Staking Point production. Leading a team or inviting users can earn you Additional Points from their activity.

The two systems are independent. **A team name is the code used to enter that team; it is not a personal referral code.**

## Teams

A team brings participants together under a shared score and ranking. On each participating chain, a wallet can either **join a team or create one**.

**Creating or joining a team is irreversible for that season on the selected chain.** The same wallet can belong to different teams on different chains.

### Member and leader benefits

Team membership and leadership provide different rewards:

| Role | Benefit |
|---|---|
| **Team member** | A **2.5% boost** on BSP generated after joining. |
| **Team leader** | Additional Points equal to **5% of the BSP generated by members after they join**. |

The member benefit increases the member’s own BSP production. The leader’s benefit is recorded as Additional Points, not as a 5% boost to the leader’s own Farming positions.

### Join a team

Teams can be **Open**, allowing anyone to join, or **Closed**, requiring the leader to whitelist your wallet first. Knowing a closed team’s name does not replace that approval.

1. Open **VISION → Rankings → My team** and check the selected network.
2. Enter the team’s name under **Join a team**.
3. Select **Join team** and confirm the transaction in your wallet.

Use the team name provided by its leader. It identifies the team you are joining, not the person referring you.

### Create a team

Creating a team makes your wallet its leader on the selected chain.

1. Open **VISION → Rankings → My team**.
2. Enter your chosen name under **Create a team**.
3. Select **Create team** and confirm the transaction in your wallet.

Share the team name with participants who want to join. For a closed team, their wallets must also be whitelisted before joining.

### Team scores and prizes

A team’s score is the **sum of its members’ Total Scores**. If the team wins a leaderboard prize, that prize is divided among members according to their contribution to the final Team Score.

For example, a member responsible for **40% of the final Team Score receives 40% of the Team Prize**. This prize allocation is separate from the Additional Points earned by the team leader.

## Referrals

The referral system offers two mutually exclusive paths on each participating chain: **use someone else’s code or register your own code to invite others**. You cannot do both or apply your own code. Referral codes are case-sensitive.

| Choice | Benefit |
|---|---|
| **Use a code** | Receive a **2.5% boost** on your BSP production. |
| **Share your own code** | Earn Additional Points equal to **10% of the BSP generated by eligible users who apply it**. |

These are different reward types: the invited user receives a boost, while the inviter receives Additional Points.

### Choose before generating points

To apply another user’s referral code, you must not have already generated VISION Points on that chain or registered your own referral code. **The point requirement concerns all point types, not only BSP.**

**Registering your own code makes the inviter choice final immediately**, even before anyone uses it. Applying another user’s code instead commits you to the invited-user path on that chain.

### Use a referral code

Apply the code before beginning activity that makes your wallet ineligible.

1. Open **VISION → Boosts** and select **Add referral**.
2. Under **Use a code**, enter the referral code exactly as provided.
3. Select **Apply** and follow the confirmation prompts.

Once applied, the referral provides the **2.5% BSP boost for the season on that chain**. It combines additively with other eligible boosts, such as team membership and active NFTs.

### Register and share your code

Choose this path to earn Additional Points from eligible participants you invite.

1. Open the **Referral** window from **VISION → Boosts**.
2. Under **Share yours**, enter your chosen code.
3. Select **Claim** and complete the registration prompts.

Here, **Claim registers the referral code**. It is not a claim of points or OVER tokens.
:::

Share the registered code with eligible participants on the same chain. When they apply it and generate BSP, you earn the corresponding Additional Points.

For example, if an invited participant generates **1,000 eligible BSP**, you earn **100 Additional Points**. Your own NFT, team or other boosts do not multiply those 100 points.
